New Look Style The Nation

So I am through to the next round EEK of the new T4 show New Look Style The Nation hosted by Nick Grimshaw. And tomorrow is the first day of filming where I will be competing with other stylists to hopefully go further. And if I’m honest it is not looking good as having a very laid back and relaxed look on life I haven’t sorted an outfit to wear OH NO only my new River Island shoes. So I shall be up at the crack of dawn to hopefully find a great outfit. Wish me luck ahhhhhhh.

Here’s a little bit about the show:The innovative and unique partnership between New Look and Channel 4 celebrates the style and creativity of everyday girls and guys up and down the country, with one lucky stylista bagging a dream job as a New Look stylist.
Barbara Horspool The series, fronted by Nick Grimshaw, will see the fashion-savvy DJ help the ‘Style Panel’, made up of award winning British designer Giles Deacon and New Look Group Creative Director Barbara Horspool, scour five cities looking for the uber-stylish to compete for the London based stylist job, creating hot looks for the fashion chains’ TV, print and online campaigns.
The six-week series will see the Style Panel, along with Celebrity guests, give their critique as our would-be stylists compete in a head-to-head catwalk competition. The winning collection will be decided by T4 viewers in a live vote, with the winners from each region battling it out at a national final to land the ultimate job as a New Look stylist. One of the show’s most stand-out features is the 2-Screen technology which allows people at home to create their own outfits online, some of which will be modelled in the show itself. Giles Deacon
Celebrity favourite Giles, who has previously designed sell-out collections for New Look, said: “We’re looking for individuality, creativity and someone with energy and passion. Fashion is all about fun and we want someone who enjoys different trends and isn’t scared to experiment”.
“We are incredibly excited to be working with T4 on this innovative project. Celebrating our customers’ individual sense of style and excitement for fashion has always been at the heart of what we stand for and this programme helps us do just that”, says Nick Cross, New Look Group Chief Marketing Officer.
“We’re delighted to be bringing such an exciting project to T4 in conjunction with New Look. Fashion is an important area for our viewers and having Nick Grimshaw at the helm with his warmth, humour and knowledge seemed the perfect choice. We envisage the show to be entertaining, innovative with its second screen activity as well as providing a life changing opportunity to one lucky winner”, added Neil McCallum, Head of T4 and Music.
With some of the biggest names on the High Street under her stylish belt, Barbara knows exactly how hard it is to break into the fashion industry; “Every stylista dreams of being paid to live and breathe fashion, shape looks for advertising campaigns and be one step ahead of the next trend. The competition is fierce so this really is the opportunity of a lifetime”.
The New Look Style the Nation team will be visiting London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow throughout May. “Make sure you’re looking super-stylish at all times as we could be spotting you” advises presenter Nick Grimshaw. Stylistas can also apply for the show via channel4.com/takepart.

Ani & Charlie both went to Fashion Industry bash “Pure” at Earls Court in London on the weekend for The Muse.TV. Here’s what they thought of it.

Charlie:

Hello Lovely Folks, it’s Charlie here. And as you all know London Fashion Week is soon approaching, very exciting indeed. So to get in the mood I popped down to Pure London, the bi-annual leading UK fashion trade event at Earls Court.

With1000’s of brands showcasing their collections, there really was a lot to see. And I’m sure you will be thrilled to know that some of these lovely bits will be hitting the high street and online retailers soon! I for one am definitely hoping the fab silky coat I saw from Italian designer Nico Didonna will be, because I sure wouldn’t mind getting my mitts on that!

The main attraction that I had to stay for was of course the catwalk shows. I couldn’t help being distracted by the hottest male model ever to exist, literally GORGEOUS. Besides that unbelievable sight, I did however manage to pry my eyes away to see some lovely dresses, full of floaty fabrics. Favorites being from Forever Unique.

I then had a bit of a Sunday treat because love her or hate her Katie Price took to the catwalk to unveil her new collection Day 22.

The collection itself was quite Katie and was based all around her. It’s even called Day 22 because her birthday is on the 22nd.

But it was the Q&A with Katie after that I really enjoyed. Mainly because when talking about her new collection she mentioned how she decided to go down a different route from the Katie Equestrian Line which she described full of bright pinks etc. A bit contradicting considering one piece from the new collection was a pair of the hottest pink trousers you’ve ever seen with Day 22 written in the big glittery font down the sides. Yes I’m sure, the male model had gone at this point.

One thing I can say though she was very honest about not being accepted by the fashion world and has the thick skin for when her fashion career doesn’t take off like VB, to be able to take it with a pinch of salt.

All in all Pure London was a very enjoyable day. It was worth the visit with lots of lovely pieces to see but I couldn’t be helped feeling a slight disappointment when nothing really jumped out at me for being the next big fashion forward thing. But I guess it was a Sunday after all.

Last Sunday we visited Pure London at Earls Court which was a sort of fashion trade event aimed at buyers who were sourcing new lines for their stores. The venue was very very big and was full of different brands and labels, some of which I recognised but mostly new up and coming ones. We did manage to find some nice pieces, there was one particular yummy bag that I liked, but it was mostly aimed at the lower end of the high street market. BUT we all thoroughly enjoyed the Norwegian Onesies being modeled by some not ugly guys, this we liked. A lot. It was pretty exciting for those involved as this event appeared to be quite an important date in the calendar of these small traders. So much so that we met some girls running a label who came all the way from New York during New York Fashion Week. Oh my, what would Anna Wintour have to say about that?! It was certainly worth a visit, though it was relatively difficult to look at the clothes whilst knowing you weren’t allowed to buy them.. my bank would like that. Major pluses were that we got two free tote bags and LOADS of sweets, one of the lollies (a drumstick-the best) is still in my bag. I’m saving it for a rainy day. Yum. Major downer was that I missed Jordan modeling her underwear range, this I will regret until my dying days.

Next Hi Summer 2011 Press Day

It’s that time of year where Summer lines are starting to filter through the high street. And today, when out on appointments trekking through the rain, I couldn’t resist stopping off at Next for their exclusive preview of the Hi Summer Collection.

And this was just the ticket because it quite literally brightened up this grey, rainy day.

Next ticked all the trend boxes with an array of the brightest and boldest block colour pieces. And like other brands Next were no different, as it seems were stepping back in time. Like it or not Spring/Summer is all about the 70’s. Floppy wide brimmed hat anyone?

So if your not already wishing these cold wintery days away, you really should be because this summer’s eye searing colour combinations are sure to excite any fashionista.

And here’s the sneaky look into my fantastic goody bag… Thanks to all the Next girlies.
